Appreciation post: My loud print dress broke the 'quiet luxury' trend for me
I keep hearing that quiet luxury and simple styles are the only way to go now, but I disagree. I mean, maybe it's just me, but all that beige feels kinda sad. So I made a dress with a big, messy floral print from some old fabric I had. I thought people might hate it, but I wore it out and got stopped three times by strangers asking about it. One lady said it made her happy just to look at it. That small win made me feel like breaking rules can be okay. Now I want to try more bold patterns in my designs.

Wanted to add that rules can be a good starting point though, not just for people who feel lost. Like, knowing the basic "quiet" style helps you break it in a way that still looks put together. A super loud print on a bad shape just looks messy, but your floral dress sounds like it worked because the fit was probably good. Sometimes playing with one bold thing, like the print, while keeping the rest simple is the sweet spot. What was the shape of the dress like?

That actually makes me so happy to hear. Getting stopped by strangers is the best kind of proof you're onto something. All those quiet luxury rules just feel like another way to make people play it safe and boring. Fashion should be about what makes you feel good, not what a trend says is correct. Your story makes me want to dig out my own loudest shirt.
