Shoutout to the guy at the Montana clinic who showed me his hoof knife sharpening trick
I used to just use a file, but after seeing his method with a leather strop and honing oil, my edges last twice as long. Anyone have a different sharpening routine they swear by?

That Montana trick sounds like extra work for no real gain. I've been using a basic file on my hoof knives for fifteen years and they cut just fine. All that stropping and oil is just making a simple job complicated. A sharp edge is a sharp edge, doesn't matter how you get there. I'd rather spend that time actually working.

Guess your horses are used to the "rustic charm" of a dull blade.
