Just realized my coworker is a dead ringer for a young Jeff Goldblum

I've been working with this guy Steve for about 8 months now at the warehouse in Tulsa. Never really thought much about it until last Tuesday when he was standing under the fluorescent lights squinting at a shipping label. Something about the way his jawline caught the light and those half-closed eyes just clicked. I pulled up a pic of Jeff Goldblum from Jurassic Park on my phone and held it next to Steve's face. Three other guys walked by and all stopped to stare. One of them said 'holy crap he really does look like him' without me even explaining. Now every time Steve talks to me I keep expecting him to say something about chaos theory or fly away in a helicopter. Has anyone else had a lookalike moment just randomly hit you out of nowhere like that?

Well, I wouldn't say "randomly hit you out of nowhere" is quite right. More like you just hadn't paid close enough attention before. I had a buddy in high school who looked just like a young John Travolta - same squinty eyes and that little smirk. Three years I knew him before my sister pointed it out at a cookout. She saw him from across the yard and just started laughing. Thing is, once someone shows you, you can never unsee it. Your brain just needed the right light and angle to make the connection stick.

Yeah I get that but I think "randomly hit you out of nowhere" is actually pretty accurate for some cases. Like my cousin once walked into a gas station and the clerk looked exactly like a young Sylvester Stallone, droopy eye and all, and she had no reason to expect that. She just walked in for a soda. So sometimes it really does just smack you in the face without warning. I think @ross.jason is right that your brain needs the right setup but sometimes the setup is just luck of the draw. We went back to that same gas station like four times and never saw him again, so it's not like she was missing anything before.
