I bought a $30 motion sensor for my trash cans after the raccoons won round one.
It just flashes a red LED and makes a quiet beep when something gets close after dark. For a week, my driveway has looked like a crime scene with scattered garbage every morning. Does anyone have a better solution that doesn't involve building a fortress?

Maybe the raccoons just think it's a cool new disco light for their parties.

@shah.matthew is onto something. I watched a family of them using the blinking red light on my security camera as a strobe last week. The big one was definitely doing some kind of shuffle.
