Bought a $40 'restaurant grade' peeler that can't even handle a carrot

I saw this fancy OXO Good Grips peeler on sale for $40 at a kitchen store in Austin and thought it would be a game changer for meal prep. Got it home and it literally snags on every single carrot and potato, leaving chunks out of the veggie instead of a clean peel. Made sweet potato fries last Tuesday and wasted about 2 pounds of sweet potatoes because of the gouges. Anyone else get burned by a kitchen gadget that was all hype?

$40 for a peeler seems wild, but are carrots really that hard to peel? Feels like you might just have a dud or maybe you got a weird batch of carrots.
