Saw a new hire at the spa in Springfield use a comedone extractor on active acne, and it made me cringe.

She was working on a client with inflamed pustules and went straight in with the metal tool. I had to step in and explain that you only use those on non-inflamed blackheads or milia, not on angry red bumps. Pushing on active acne can drive bacteria deeper and cause scarring. How do you all handle teaching proper extraction protocol to avoid skin damage?
