Warning: I just read the 2023 NAEC injury report and the number of falls from ladder use in hoistways is way higher than I thought.
Found it buried in the appendix of their annual safety bulletin, and it made me double-check every single ladder setup I do now, so has anyone else started using a different fall arrest system for those tight pit access jobs?

My buddy's crew in Phoenix switched to those retractable lanyards last year.

How's the crew liking them so far? We made the same switch at my old site and honestly, the guys fought it at first. But once they got used to the extra slack, they wouldn't go back to the old static lines. The trick was letting everyone test them out on a low level for a full week.
