Walked into a repair shop in Austin and saw someone fixing a 1980s receiver with a butter knife

Ngl I was just dropping off a dead power supply at this tiny shop off South Congress and the guy behind the counter was using a butter knife to pry open a Marantz receiver from like 1983. I asked him about it and he said the plastic spudger broke and he didn't feel like driving to the store. He actually got the case off clean without scratching anything which honestly impressed me. It got me thinking about how we all have those moments where we use whatever is on the bench to get the job done. I've used a paperclip to short test points more times than I can count. Has anyone else here gotten creative with random tools when your real ones were out of reach?

My buddy tried fixing a lawnmower carburetor with a chopstick once because he lost his tiny screwdriver in the grass. It actually worked for a few weeks until the chopstick snapped off inside the float bowl. He was real proud of himself until he had to explain to his wife why the mower was sitting in pieces. That butter knife story brought back that memory for sure.

Three weeks seems like a win honestly @evanpalmer, was it really that bad?
