Shoutout to the retired electrician at the hardware store who told me to always carry a spare 3/4-inch conduit bushing in my pocket.

He said he learned that after getting stuck on a rooftop in Phoenix for two hours waiting for a parts run, and now I'm curious if other people have a single small part they never leave home without.

Honestly, that bushing story is a special kind of torture. Two hours on a Phoenix roof sounds like a personal hell. Did he ever say what he used it for the first time after that, or did it just become a weird lucky charm?

It's funny how we all end up with that one little thing. My grandpa always had a specific size washer in his change pocket, said it saved the day more times than he could count.
