Just finished a rewire in a 1920s house and the difference in fish tape was night and day

I used my old steel tape for the first floor and it kept getting stuck in the plaster and lath. Switched to my newer nylon-coated one for the second floor and it slid right through. The nylon one cost me about $35 six months ago and saved me at least two hours of fighting. Why do we even sell the plain steel ones to new guys anymore?

Old steel's still king for new construction though.

Nylon tape is a total game changer for old walls.

Wait, nylon tape actually works on old plaster? That stuff is always cracking on me.
