My neighbor said I was crazy to put a heated floor in my garage
I was outside in Mill Woods last winter, just starting to lay the mats for my garage floor heat. My neighbor Bob came over, saw the electric cables, and said 'You're spending all that money to heat a space for your car? That's Edmonton, not Arizona.' I told him it was more about having a warm spot to work on projects when it's minus 30. He just shook his head and said the cost would never be worth it. Has anyone else put heat in their garage and actually been happy with it, or was Bob right?

Honestly, the safety angle is huge that nobody talks about. My old garage floor was a solid sheet of ice from snow melt off the car. I nearly ate it twice just walking to the freezer. Now with the heat on, it's dry instantly. No more salt tracking into the house either, which saves my floors. It's a game changer for just not slipping and breaking your tailbone.

Ignore Bob's opinion about the cost, because the comfort is priceless when you're out there fixing something. My heated garage floor turns a miserable chore into a project I actually look forward to in the winter. It's one of those upgrades you never regret after it's done.
