Finally gave in and tried a mini skid steer for my backyard
Been hauling gravel with a wheelbarrow for 3 days straight. Back was killing me. Rented a Toro Dingo for $280 and finished the whole patio base in 4 hours. Anyone else find equipment rentals worth it for small jobs?

Hold up, just gotta say it's not really a skid steer though lol. A Toro Dingo is a compact track loader, not a mini skid steer. Skid steers steer by skidding or sliding their wheels or tracks, while the Dingo has a different steering system. I know it's easy to mix them up especially when you're dealing with all those rentals. But honestly, for what you did hauling gravel and prepping a patio base, the Dingo is probably way better anyway. The controls are more intuitive for small jobs and you don't have to worry about tearing up your lawn as much. Glad it saved your back though, that's a win no matter what you call it.

Is it just me or does every hobby have that one tool people get super particular about naming? I swear, over on the woodworking forums they argue for days about whether something's technically a "jointer" vs a "planer" and half the time it doesn't even change how you use it. Long as the job gets done and your back doesn't hate you, call it whatever you want.
