That one foreman told me to stop using a 6-inch knife for my butt joints

He said I was overworking the mud and creating air bubbles. I switched to a 10-inch for the second coat and the finish came out way cleaner. Anybody else get a simple tip that fixed a problem you didn't even know you had?
