Finally switched from manual shutdowns to a timed purge cycle on my cutterhead

For about 2 years, I'd sit there and manually throttle down my 12-inch dredge every time I finished a cut, waiting for the suction to clear before killing the engine. Took forever, and I'd always second-guess myself. Last month, I installed a simple timer relay that runs a 45-second purge cycle after I hit the kill switch. Now I just hit the button and walk away. Has anyone else made this switch, or do you still do it the old way?

Oh man, that's such a relatable struggle! I used to do the exact same thing with my cutterhead, sitting there staring at the water like a crazy person waiting for it to clear up. It's so easy to second guess yourself too, wondering if you're gonna clog the whole system if you shut down too early. The timer relay is such a smart move, I've been thinking about doing something similar for months now. Did you have to mess with the wiring much to get it set up right?

Honestly thought it was overkill but now I get it, that sounds like a game changer.
