Update: My third zine finally got a real response at the Austin Zine Fest

I handed out maybe 30 copies of my first two zines over 6 months with barely a nod. This weekend someone actually came back to my table and said the collage style reminded them of their grandma's scrapbook. Has anyone else gotten that kind of personal reaction that made the whole thing feel worth it?

I read something once where a zine maker said the best reactions are the weird personal ones because those people actually get what you're trying to do. Your grandma's scrapbook thing sounds like a great compliment. Most people just walk by or give a polite nod so when someone stops and connects it to something real, that's gold. Those first two zines got you to that moment so keep going.
