Digital vs physical zines, I finally saw the point of print after 3 years online only

I used to swear by digital zines since they're free to make and share, you know. But then I went to a tiny zine fair in Portland last spring and saw someone's handmade 8-page booklet with actual staples and photocopied textures. The physical weight in my hands made me read every word slow, like I was holding someone's actual diary. Has anyone else switched teams after touching a real paper copy?

Hang on, juliam40 got 4x more readers on digital - but did they actually finish it though? I mean, when I put out digital zines people would like or download but I never knew if they really sat with it. At that fair I watched a teenager spend 15 minutes just flipping through this one stapled zine about bus routes in her neighborhood. Can't get that kind of focus from a PDF scroll.

My 3 zines in 2021 got 4x more readers than any printed copy I've seen.
