Painted my hallway ceiling flat instead of semi-gloss and I'm shocked at the difference

I finally repainted my hallway last weekend after living with the builder-grade crap for 4 years. Always used semi-gloss on ceilings because the can said it was more durable. Decided to try flat on a whim and the shadows from our recessed lights just disappeared. The whole hallway feels 2 feet taller now. Has anyone else switched sheens on a ceiling and noticed that big a change?

Did you notice a big difference with the lighting too? I did my living room ceiling a few months ago and the flat paint just killed all those weird shadows from my track lights. Total game changer for sure lol.

Total game changer" is right @olivias88. My wife said I finally looked like I knew what I was doing with a roller.
