Showerthought: the geocities page I made in 1998 about my cat still loads on archive.org
I was bored last night and typed in my old URL from middle school, a bright green monstrosity with blinking text about my cat Mittens and how much I hated homework. The Wayback Machine still has it, frames and all, which got me wondering how many of those old personal sites are just sitting there frozen in time. Has anyone else gone digging and found something weird or embarrassing from their own teenage internet days?

Honestly I don't get the nostalgia for those old sites because they were UGLY and hard to actually read or use. People act like it was some golden age but most of those pages were just broken layouts with terrible color combos and autoplay midi files that made you want to throw your computer out the window. The internet is WAY better now even if it's more corporate, at least you can actually find information without waiting for a gif of a dancing baby to load.

Nah, the chaos was part of the charm though!
