Serious warning about trying to view old Flash sites today

I tried to show my nephew a classic Flash game site from 2004, thinking it would be a quick trip down memory lane. Getting it to actually run took me over three hours of messing with old browsers and emulators! The main site, like Miniclip, is still up but completely broken without the right setup. I finally got it working with a specific version of the Pale Moon browser and a Flash emulator called Ruffle. Has anyone else found a simpler way to get these old interactive sites to load properly?
