PSA: My first GeoCities page still exists and it's a glorious mess
Clicking through those animated GIFs and midi music brought back how fun the web used to be.

You called it fun but honestly those old pages were a pain. All those flashing GIFs and auto-play music made sites hard to look at and even harder to use. They loaded slow on dial-up and half the links were broken. It was more chaotic than fun. The web is way better now with clean layouts and actually finding what you need.

There's a similar shift in how we design everyday objects. Old TV remotes had dozens of confusing buttons, but now they're minimal or controlled by voice. Car dashboards traded a mess of dials for clean, digital screens. It's just like the web ditching flashy GIFs for useful layouts. We keep picking things that work simply over things that just seem fun. Life gets less frustrating that way.
