My old Geocities fan site got archived and it's like looking at a different internet

I was digging through the Wayback Machine last night and found the Naruto fan site I made in 2001. The difference between that and even a basic modern blog is insane. Those MIDI files that autoplayed, the glittery cursor trails, the guestbook full of people just typing "cool site!!" It wasn't broken, it was just from a time when nobody knew what they were doing and that was fine. Has anyone else pulled up their old stuff and just sat there wondering how we ever thought that looked good?

Wild west wasn't really that wild unless you were shoutin' at strangers in a chatroom.
