Question about switching from manual bidding to automated campaigns

I ran Google Ads for my small bike shop in Portland manually for 2 years, checking and adjusting bids every morning. After a Google rep suggested trying their automated bidding last quarter, my cost per conversion dropped by 15% but I feel like I lost control. Has anyone else made this switch and found a good middle ground?

That "lost control" feeling is real. Try using automated bidding but set max CPC limits so the algorithm can't go totally wild.

Totally get that. Felt the same panic when I switched. My CPA went down but I kept waking up stressed. Started using max CPC limits like grace said, but also set a really tight target ROAS. Now it feels like I'm steering, not just along for the ride. Let the bot do the hourly tweaks, but I still set the guardrails.
