Just realized what a real testimonial sounds like after a chat with an old neighbor
Last week I ran into my old neighbor Frank at the hardware store, and he started telling me about this lawn service he uses. He said, "They showed up at 7 AM on a Saturday when my sprinkler broke and didn't leave till the grass was green again." That one line stuck with me because it was so specific, with a time and a problem and a result. It made me rethink all those generic reviews on my client's website that just say "great service" without any details. Has anyone else noticed how a real story from a customer sells way better than any polished ad copy?

My lawn stories usually involve me tripping over the hose and blaming the grass.

Frank telling you the exact time and problem is exactly right. I had a guy once tell me his plumber showed up at 2 AM on Christmas eve to fix a burst pipe and stayed till 6 AM. I still remember that story two years later. It's the little specifics like the date and the hour that make it feel real and trustworthy. Those five star reviews that say "great work" might as well be blank pages.
