Had to pick between Google Ads and Facebook Ads for our $2k budget
I was running ads for a small local coffee shop in Portland last month and had to choose between putting all $2,000 into Google search ads or splitting it with Facebook targeting. I went with just Google Ads because people searching for "coffee near me" felt more direct than hoping they'd scroll past a photo of a latte. Has anyone else had better luck with one platform over the other for a small local business?

I ran a similar test for a bike shop in Austin with a $1,500 budget and went all in on Google Ads too. The first week I got 47 clicks and 8 people actually walked through the door asking about specific bikes they'd searched for. Facebook might build brand awareness but when you're a local shop with limited cash you need that direct intent. If you optimize your keywords right for "coffee near me" or "best espresso Portland" you'll see way better return than hoping someone's feed likes your latte photo.
