I disagree that digital ads are necessary for every small business. His place has loyal customers from the neighborhood who prefer a handshake over a click, and it's been solid for a decade.

Plenty of shops get by just fine offline. It's not some huge rebellion against the internet, it's just how some places work. Maybe his spot is the exception, not the rule. Times change though, and betting everything on the same old way for another ten years seems risky. What works now might not later.
