Saw a guy in a digital art group say 'rendering is just coloring'
Honestly I was scrolling through a digital art forum last night and some kid said rendering is just coloring inside the lines with fancy brushes. Like bro have you ever actually tried to build form with light and shadow on a figure? Took me 3 years of practice just to make a sphere look round. Rendering is way more about understanding values than just picking colors. What's the biggest misconception you've seen beginners throw around in digital art?

Wait, do those people think shading is just picking darker colors from a color wheel?

Bless them, they probably think shading is just slapping a darker hex code on there and calling it a day. I've seen tutorials where people literally just pick a color that's like 5 shades darker and call it "shadows." Like honey, that's not how light works, but okay. Meanwhile the rest of us are over here mixing purples and blues into our shadows because that's actually what happens in real life. But hey, if they want their art to look like flat plastic toys, who am I to judge.
