I started sketching on a separate layer at 50% opacity and it fixed my line art
My line work always looked shaky and messy when I went straight to inking. About three weeks ago, I saw a streamer mention they sketch with a light blue brush at half opacity on a layer above the canvas. I tried it with a basic round brush in Clip Studio Paint, and it let me focus on shapes without worrying about perfect lines. After I got the sketch right, I just lowered the layer opacity more and inked on a new layer on top. My final lines are way cleaner now, and I don't spend an hour erasing. Has anyone else found a simple layer trick that changed their process?

That light blue trick is a game changer. I do the same thing with a 30% grey layer in Procreate.

Wait, are we just making up fancy names for putting a filter over everything?
