Heard a gallery owner say AI art doesn't belong in showcases, want to hear both sides

I was at a small gallery opening in Portland last Friday and overheard the owner telling someone that digital art showcases should never include AI generated pieces. He said it takes away from the real skill of drawing and painting. But I've seen some beautiful AI assisted work that clearly took a lot of human input and editing. Where do you draw the line on what counts as digital art for a showcase?

So is that guy also against photography or photoshop or anything that didn't exist 100 years ago... where does it end with the gatekeeping?
