Finally finished a digital piece I started 6 months ago

Honestly, I had this character design sitting in my layers folder since January. I kept looking at the sketch and telling myself I'd finish it next week. Well last Tuesday I finally sat down and colored it all in one sitting. It's just a simple warrior girl with blue hair but the lighting on her armor came out way better than I expected. I think the break actually helped cause I could see the mistakes I made back then more clearly. Has anyone else had a piece that just needed months of staring at before it clicked?

That's wild because I've noticed the same thing happens with pretty much everything creative, not just art. Like I've got this old guitar riff I recorded over a year ago and it sounded awful until last month I pulled it up and instantly knew what was missing. There's something about time passing that just clears out the clutter in your brain so you can actually see what needs fixing. Same with writing too honestly, coming back to something weeks later makes the bad parts stick out like neon signs. Sometimes you just need to let stuff marinate in the background while your brain works on it without you realizing.

@wren307 you're mixing up marinating and fermenting. One needs time, the other needs a starter.
