Can we talk about that one person who critiqued my art at a convention?

I was at a small digital art booth at the Denver Fan Expo last month, and this guy walked up and said my characters' hands looked like "loose spaghetti" and walked off before I could respond. It totally killed my vibe for the rest of the day, and I still think about it when I'm drawing now. Why do people feel the need to drop random insults instead of just scrolling past?

Nah, maybe his opinion was just the reality check you needed.

Ask @avery_walker30 what kind of "reality check" they think is helpful when someone is just being mean for no reason? Like, the line between tough love and straight up disrespect is pretty blurry sometimes. Was the original opinion actually fair or was it just someone venting their own frustrations onto someone else? I think context matters a ton here because a real reality check comes from a place of care, not from a place of being hurtful.
