Stuck on a job in Lubbock because I forgot my torque wrench

I drove 4 hours to Lubbock last Tuesday to do a head gasket swap on a Freightliner and realized I left my torque wrench at the shop. Had to borrow one from a local guy and it wasn't even close to calibrated right. Cost me an extra 3 hours of work and a lot of cussing. Anyone else had a tool screw up their whole day like that?

Oh man my buddy once used a rusty old wrench and it snapped mid-job lol.

Wow that's rough lol. I've noticed people out here doing projects with whatever random junk they find in their garage instead of spending like 20 bucks on a proper tool. It's wild how we'll pinch pennies on something that could literally break and hurt us but then drop hundreds on fancy coffee or takeout. I swear half the injuries I see from DIY stuff come down to people using the wrong tool for the job because they didn't want to run to the hardware store. We've all been there though, trying to save a few minutes and ending up with a busted knuckle or worse.
