PSA: That 'simple' oil leak on a 6.7 Powerstroke might not be the turbo pedestal

Just spent 12 hours chasing what everyone online said was a classic turbo pedestal leak on a 2015 F-250. Replaced the whole unit, only to find the leak was still there... It turned out to be a tiny, almost invisible crack in the valley pan itself, right near the back. All the oil was just running forward and making it look exactly like the pedestal. Had to pull the turbo again to get to it. Has anyone else been tricked by a leak in that spot, or am I just having a bad week?

Right? That "classic turbo pedestal leak" is the biggest trap in the 6.7 world. I had the exact same thing happen on a 2016, replaced the pedestal, new o-rings, the whole deal, and still had a puddle. Finally found a hairline crack in the valley pan too, but mine was up front by the crankcase vent. Drove me nuts for a whole weekend. You're not having a bad week, you just learned the hard lesson the rest of us did.

Did you pressure test the valley to find that crack, or was it just dumb luck? That's a brutal spot for a leak to hide. I'd be checking the pan first on any 6.7 with a mystery oil smell now.
