Went to a retro computer meetup in Austin and nobody had heard of BeOS

I brought my old BeBox just to show it off and everyone under 30 kept asking if it was some kind of prop from a sci-fi movie. Has anyone else dealt with that weird moment where old tech you lived through feels like ancient history to someone else?

omg YES this is such a thing. i brought my old iMac G3 to a retro gaming night and this kid asked if it was from the 80s. i was like no????? it's from 1998???? he looked at me like i was speaking another language. it's so weird because when i was growing up that computer was the coolest thing ever and now it's basically a museum piece to some people. the best part was when someone asked if it ran Windows 95 and i had to explain the whole Mac OS thing. they seemed genuinely confused that computers could be different like that.
