My old GPS receiver finally bit the dust on a hike last Sunday

Had a Garmin eTrex from around 2003 that I still used for trail marking, and the screen just went blank halfway up a ridge in Shenandoah. Anyone else still hanging onto ancient GPS units or have you all switched to phone apps?

Did you have any luck getting it to turn back on? I had a similar thing happen with my old Garmin GPSMap 60CSx on a trail in the Adirondacks a few years back. Thought it was totally dead, but I pulled the batteries out for like 10 minutes and cleaned the contacts with a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol. Put fresh batteries in and it fired right back up lol. Might be worth a shot before you give up on it completely.

Have you tried what @garcia.charles suggested with the battery contacts? That exact trick brought my old eTrex Vista back from the dead after a similar blank screen incident on a rainy hike a few years ago.
