The food court fountain at Century III Mall flooded during my visit last month

I was taking photos of the old arcade when I heard this weird gurgling sound. Looked over and water was pouring out of the broken fountain base, soaking half the food court floor. Had to climb over a fallen bench to get out because the water was spreading fast. Anybody else had a mall fixture suddenly give up like that?

Did the fountain think it was auditioning for a role in a disaster movie? I guess the mall decided to give you an indoor water park experience without the ticket price. Sounds like that bench was the real hero of the day, sacrifice and all.

Gotta push back a little on the "disaster movie" thing, @lindaw29. That fountain was more like that one actor who shows up for a brief cameo and then disappears, you know? The real drama was the bench (it sacrificed itself so we could stay dry). I'm just glad nobody tried to surf on a mall cart through all that water (though I saw a kid eyeing the display fountains like they were a slip n' slide).
