Realized I'd been taking all my mall photos in the wrong aspect ratio for like 2 years

I always shot in 16:9 because that's what my phone defaulted to. Went back through old pics from that abandoned mall in Akron and they looked awful on my computer screen. A guy on the Discord said 'you know square format works better for dead mall stuff right' and it clicked. Now I switch to 1:1 before I even walk in the door. Has anyone else had a dumb little photography habit that made their older trips feel wasted?
