Rant: Always sped by the crumbling plaza, but a detour for pictures totally shifted my take...

I just saw decay and gloom... but finding beauty in the peeling paint and silent escalators hooked me. Now I go out with my camera every few weeks, and the way sun hits abandoned kiosks is oddly peaceful.

Wait, the post wasn't really about quiet places though... it was more about seeing something beautiful where you only saw ruin before. That's a pretty big shift.

Yeah, that "flipped a switch" feeling is so real. I had the same thing happen just walking my dog, noticing how the morning light hits a broken fence in a way that makes the moss glow. It really does change a place from just empty to full of little details.

Totally get this shift in how you see things. Used to pass by old spots and just think they were sad and empty. Picking up a camera made me notice the small stuff, like cracks in concrete or rust patterns, and it flipped a switch. Now those quiet places feel more like a weird, calm escape than something to avoid.
