48 dead stores in 2 years - the slide I watched happen
I first visited Valley View Mall in 2022 and counted 22 working stores. Walked through it again last weekend and only 7 are left. That food court with the fake palm trees is completely dark now.

Watched my local mall go from busy to barren in about the same time. Made a joke that I'm the only person under 60 still window shopping there. Guess the palm trees are just trees now, no palms needed.

Oh gosh, tell me about it... I walked through ours last weekend and felt like a ghost in a time capsule. Half the stores are shuttered and the food court is basically a sad little island of pretzels and old pizza. It's wild how fast they went from the place to be to just... empty hallways.
