Can we talk about how my old password manager just failed me out of nowhere

Last Tuesday I went to log into my bank and my password manager crashed, leaving me locked out with no way to retrieve any of my 200+ passwords. Had to spend 3 hours on the phone with customer support resetting everything manually - does anyone still trust cloud based password managers after something like this?

Your local password manager also owns your data if the cloud backup is on by default.

Oh man, I gotta push back on this a little. I mean, yeah, if you leave cloud backup on, the company technically can see your stuff. But doesn't that depend on how they encrypt it? A lot of local password managers use end-to-end encryption where even they can't read your vault. That's way different from those big cloud services that scan your data for ads or whatever. So I'd say it's more about the specifics of the encryption than just default settings.
