PSA: Those cheap vinyl decals melted off my truck in under 3 months

I ordered a batch of custom decals for my work truck from a budget printer back in June, and by September they were peeling and warped from the sun. Ended up spending $120 at a local shop to redo them, and the owner told me they used cheap adhesive that can't handle heat. Has anyone else had luck with a specific material for outdoor use?

Went through almost the same headache with some decals from an online printer. Found that cast vinyl holds up way better than calendared stuff for anything that sits in direct sun all day. The extra upfront cost is worth it when you're not redoing them every few months.

Hard disagree here. Cast vinyl is nice and all but the price difference is insane for something that's basically just a sticker. I've had cheap calendared decals on my car for two years now and they still look fine (and my car sits in the sun all day because I don't have a garage). The whole "cast vs calendared" thing is mostly marketing hype from people who want you to spend more money. Most of the time when decals fail it's because the application was bad or the surface wasn't prepped right, not because of the vinyl type. Plus if you're doing small runs or one-off designs, the setup costs for cast vinyl can double your total bill. Save your money and just learn how to install them properly instead.
