Found a link to a site that turned my whole screen into a haunted Windows 95 desktop

Last week I clicked a link someone posted in a random Discord server for retro games. It said it was a 'nostalgic desktop simulator' but instead it loaded a full-screen version of Windows 95 with a glitchy clown face that kept popping up in the taskbar. I couldn't close it without restarting my browser, and even then it left a weird echo effect on my screen for an hour. Has anyone else stumbled on a link that basically bricked your browser for a bit?

Every click feels like I'm stepping on a digital landmine now. One wrong tap and suddenly I'm getting targeted ads for hernia belts and "cash for gold" scams for the next three months. Even trying to cancel a newsletter subscription somehow enrolls you in six more that you never signed up for. The other day I accidentally looked at my phone in a way that triggered a full screen ad that took me to some sketchy casino app.
