My favorite writing app crashed and deleted 2,000 words of my novel draft last night.
I was using a free trial of Scrivener and hadn't saved manually for over an hour because I trusted the auto-save. What's your go-to backup method to avoid this disaster?

Save manually every ten minutes, no exceptions.

Used to laugh at people who saved that much, thought it was overkill. Lost two hours of work last week because my auto-save failed. @young.emma is completely right, manual saves are the only safe way. Now my control-s finger gets a workout every few minutes.
