Just realized I've written 100k words for a single character's backstory
Started as a quick exercise to flesh out a side character, but now it's a whole novel's worth of lore. Anyone else ever get totally sidetracked by a prompt like that?

Ugh, honestly that sounds like a huge waste of time. A backstory that long is just overkill and probably bogs down the actual story. Most of those details will never matter to a reader, you just got lost in the weeds. It's better to keep things simple and focus on writing the real plot instead.
