Scored a 1970s metal detector at a garage sale for $5

I was browsing Craigslist ads last night and saw a guy listing a 'vintage treasure finder' for $40, then I actually found one at a garage sale this morning for 5 bucks. It's a White's Coinmaster from the 70s with the original box and manual, still works with 9-volt batteries. I took it to the park behind my house and found 14 cents in clad and a weird rusty key in about 20 minutes. The discrimination settings are a joke compared to modern units but it's cool knowing people used these back when. Has anyone else found old treasure hunting gear on Marketplace or garage sales and actually used it?

Bought a beat up Garret from the 80s for $10 once and spent an hour digging up a door hinge, so you're already doing better than me.

Man, I was reading about someone who found a 1700s coin with a beat up machine like that. Sometimes the cheap gear just wants to be part of the story.
