Ran a 40 ton Grove in 30 mph gusts near the Port of Galveston and had to learn when to call it
Three years back I was setting precast panels at a job site by the Port of Galveston and the wind picked up from 12 to 30 mph in about 20 minutes, and my load chart was telling me I was getting close to the line. My spotter Ray kept saying it was fine but I shut the swing down and waited it out, and sure enough the gusts hit 38 by lunch. Cost us half a day and the super was not happy but I still think it was the right call. How do you all handle that pressure when the chart says go but your gut says no?
