Am I the only one who sets cribbing by feel instead of eyeballing the bubble?
I had a sketchy mat pour on a slope out near Route 9 in Poughkeepsie a while back, and my bubble level kept reading off no matter how I shimmed it. What finally worked was cutting three 4x4 blocks to the same length and stacking them so each corner sat level with the one across from it, then checking with a string line instead of the level. Took me about 20 extra minutes on setup but the boom stayed true all afternoon. Does anyone else trust a string line over a level for uneven ground, or am I overthinking it?
