Was team 'no extensions' until my coworker proved me wrong with her install

I used to think tape-in extensions were a scam for cosmetologists. Figured they damaged hair too much and were just a money grab. But my coworker Jenna let me watch her do a full install on a client last Tuesday. She showed me how she places the strips way closer to the scalp than I thought, and she only used 16 pieces total. The client's hair looked super natural and she was crying happy tears. The whole process took just under an hour and the client said she'd been getting them for 2 years with zero breakage. Has anyone else here changed their mind about a service after seeing it done right?

16 pieces is actually way more than what most good tape-in artists use for a full head. Usually you want 20 to 24 pieces depending on how thick the client's hair is. Too few strips can leave weird gaps when the hair moves.

Oh wait, I just watched a tutorial the other day saying the exact opposite for fine hair! The stylist said 16 panels is plenty if you space them right, otherwise the weight can pull on thin strands.
