My hot tool cart gave out on me during a full set of extensions
It happened last Thursday with a client in the chair. I was about halfway through a full head of tape-ins when the whole cart just tipped over. The wheels on one side gave way completely, sending my irons, clips, and a brand new bottle of bond sealer crashing to the floor. The sealer bottle shattered, and my favorite curling iron got a huge dent in the barrel. I had to stop the service for twenty minutes to clean up the glass and sticky mess, and my client was super nice about it, but it threw off my whole flow. I had bought that cart from a beauty supply store about two years ago, and I guess the plastic wheel housing just cracked from regular use. Has anyone found a really sturdy, heavy-duty cart that can handle being moved around a busy salon every day?

Oh man, that's a rough scene for sure. But a cart tipping over is just a bad day, not a disaster. You cleaned it up, your client was cool, and you finished the set. It's not like the ceiling caved in. Tools get dented, bottles break. It's annoying, but it's part of the job. Just get a new cart with better wheels and move on.

Yeah, saw a post last week where a guy's whole cart went down a flight of stairs. Now that was a disaster. Makes a simple tip-over look pretty tame. The right gear matters, but so does just not beating yourself up over it. Stuff happens to everyone.
