Switched from marking walls with a pencil to snapping chalk lines, and my framers quit bugging me about layout
Last month on a 3,200 sq ft build in Tulsa I finally ditched the pencil and tape for a chalk line on every interior wall plate. My lead guy had been telling me for two jobs that pencil marks smear and drift, and after we caught a 5/8 inch out of square on a hallway, I ate the crow and switched. Layout went from a two man headache to one guy knocking it out before lunch, and we passed framing inspection with zero callbacks on wall placement. Anyone else made the jump, or do you still swear by a pencil and a speed square?
