Serious question, did a 6 month wait on tablet takeoff finally wear me down?
I used to be one of those guys who printed out full plan sets, 40 sheets sometimes, and marked them up with a red pen because it was faster than fighting a screen in the dirt. Last week I was on a job site near Bakersfield and a foreman who is maybe 24 pulled out his tablet, tapped twice, and had the whole footing layout measured out before I even got my roll of tape out of the truck. He said something like 'I don't do paper math twice' and it stuck with me driving home. My issue was always that glare kills the screen outside and the batteries die by lunch. But he had a shade cover and a spare pack, so my excuse got thin in a hurry. I'm not saying I'm sold all the way, but I finally get why the office keeps pushing the takeoff software on us. Has anyone found a setup that actually survives a 100 degree day without the tablet cooking itself?
